Spark plug reading was created by Schmeck
Okay so I have been trying to tune this single carb on my kz750 twin . I can get the bike to start and idle but as far as throttle goes it is sluggish . I put new plugs in and started it , let it idle for about 5 minutes and this is the left side plug . My jets are a 210 main and 65 pilot. Needle is 3rd from top . This carb feeds two cylinders. Any sparkplug readers out there please chime in ! -Schmeck

Way rich........
You want the outer metal ring of the plug to have a sooty light black- medium brown ring 3/4 around the base is ideal. If its all the way that's ok.
On the plug L- shaped tip : you want a brownish look. if it is 3/4 of the total tip as in picture the plug is the right temperature. If the brownish mark on tip is more than 3/4 of its total length, the plug is to hot. If brownish mark on tip is shorter than 3/4 of the tip it's to cool.
On the inner porcelain, you want a medium brown ring from the top and going down the porcelain about 1 to 2 mm.
If you are seeing white on the plug, you are to lean and need to go to the rich side.
If the plug is black as yours is.....its to rich. You need to find what circuit or circuits of you carb system that is the reason for the rich mixture.
Could also be caused by bad plugs, bad valve guides, bad valve seals, a weak battery, dirty air cleaners, incorrect ignition timing or a faulty ignition system causing a weak spark.
Does the bike ever smoke when running?
