I just had trouble with the seller of some Carburettors unable to post them from Wisconsin USA.

The Ebay purchase was cancelled and my PalPal was refunded (In part... Not sure about post yet).
Evidently, an over zealous post office clerk, stated they were considered a dangerous item and postage was not permitted.
The post was proposed from Wisconsin to Sydney.

Can anyone let me know, how "used carbs" can be legally sent to Australia?.
What can a seller do to ensure they don't conflict with postage/import laws?
Wired George where are you?

RegardZ.

G'day Garn, I had a set of 33's sent over without any problems. Have the seller mark them motorcycle parts and not carburetors and try a different shipper/postal service.
While we're talking carbs I'm after a no.1 carby body anyone????????
Warning do not use "motorcyclecarb.com" They still have it and won't respond.

Never had a problem shipping sets of carburetors overseas. Just make sure when you walk into Post Office your package of carbs don't smell of gasoline. Like Harvey 1327 said fill out Customs form as "used motorcycle parts" And make sure that you over pack them for the trip overseas.

I did have one postal worker that always gave me a hard time every time I tried to ship something. The 24 inch mailing tube the post office used to sell was actually 25 inches long. She got out her tape measure and measured it and told me I could not ship it First Class because it was over 24 inches long. I told her you the Post Office sells them, and they are marked as 24 inches right on them and now I can't ship it. I had to saw that inch off of it to ship it First Class. Since it was a very small Post Office I started to go there when she went to lunch at 12.30!!!

If you still have a problem with a worker just ask to see the Post Master. And be very nice and explain your side of story to them. If that don't work, call the Post Office's 800 number and file a complaint against that Post Office. It takes like a half hour on the phone to do it, but they do sent out a form to be filed out by the Post Master in that Post Office. When I did that the Post Master took me aside and asked me why I filed that complaint. I flat told him that his worker was wrong on 2 or 3 different things and I just got fed up with her. And that the Post Office in the next town took the packages with no questions asked. He was not a happy camper because that complaint also went on his service record. I never had a problem with her after that!!

I would believe there was an odor of gasoline that tipped them off. I have sold several sets of carbs overseas but mine have been cleaned and ultrasonic washed. When you walk ingot he post office to send the package the first thing they ask is "is there anything hazardous inside?"

I'm having some issues shipping a used gas tank to Canada. These tips are helpful. Thanks for the help. I told the first post office that it is a used gas tank, their response was "we cant ship a used gas tank." The next post office I went to I told them it was a new gas tank... Their response, "let's open the box and have a look".

Don't be ridiculous! It's only a flesh wound!

I had problems shipping my Z1R carbs from Oz to WG in Texas via Australia post.

When they were scanned and found to be carbs, they were sent straight back.
However did receive a full refund from the post orifice for $118.00

Ended up sending them via UPS no dramas...they were there in 5 days. B)
