kz 1000 LTD, plugs fouling on idle was created by anotherZ
Hi everyone, I could really use some help here.

Bike is a 1979 KZ 1000 LTD with the pumper carbs. Runs well at mid range and top end. The bike has no mods except K&Ns and V&H 4in1
I was not able to get it idling properly on the original #15 pilots so I went one size up to #17.5. Idling was great right from the start with the mixture screws 1.5 turns out. However, plugs are fouling after a few minutes of stop and go. With the screws turned in, at about 1 turn, the bike doesn't idle that well anymore and plugs are still fouling.
Bike is in good mechanical shape, valves set correctly, new carb boots, new carb gaskets, new K&Ns, what am I overlooking? Plugs are NGK B8ES.

Thanks for any input!

check the voltage at the coils.
Should be close to battery voltage.
If not look for the " wired George mod"

I just bought a bike so after posting I went out and checked my voltage at the coils and it was 9.75 . :pinch:

Looks like connector cleaning time. And a coil Mod.

I'm a big supporter of the Wired George system. 12.8 volts to coil 24-7 365 days a year

The relay mod comes in many flavors. For example, I connected two relays in parallel for dual redundancy failure mode protection, send the output to an accessory fuse block, and run my coils, Fiamm horns, grip heaters, battery health signal and accessory outlet connector out of them. And still have an extra connection available.
