Make sure the carb holder clamps are plenty loose and you may want to apply a thin film of Vaseline abound the carb holder openings where the carbs enter them. Ed

For sure, make certain the clamps are floppy loose. I use silicone spray as a lubricant for rubber.

If the manifolds are hard use a hair dryer and heat them up then spray some WD40 on the inside of the boots, they will slide right in.

Make sure your boots aren't folding over into themselves when you're pushing the carbs in.
