newbie question CSR carbs was created by twnichols
Hi everyone. new guy here. I've had a lot of bikes over the years, mostly old Brit stuff. just got an 82 CSR 750. It would barely run when purchased. I have cleaned carbs and found both pilot jets plugged solid. After cleaning, it idles great now.Almost there! I just had it out and will run great to about 4k rpm. Thought it was lean. Stopped and took out the crusty air filter and gained another thousand rpm, hmmmm, maybe rich then. Almost there! When assembling the carbs I noticed there are no plugs on the bottom of the pilot jet well. What are these for? Could I be too rich because there are no plugs on these? Everything else looked fine. Sorry for the long post, but, I really want to ride!!

the following link may help that was posted to a similar problem. Patton included a nice picture of how if the pilot jet plugs were left off what could happen to the air/fuel mixture.
