Out of control High idle during carb sync - help

Hi all,

Working on a 75 Z1B with a k&n filter, typical vm 28 running 117.5 main jets, 4 into 2 KZ1000 exhaust. Using a carbtune pro, just about got the vacuum balanced when the throttle started climbing. Backing off the main idle screw failed to correct this( currently not even making contact). Slackened the throttle cabled and the butterfly appears to be completely at rest. Idle settled around 4k when I shut it down. Waited, tried again, same results - idle jumps and will not back off. Disconnected carbtune and replaced the rubber port covers. Same results when started.

Float levels have been checked via the clear tube method and all are spot on. Mixture screws are all set to spec 1 1/4 turns out.
Clear case of dicking around in search of perfection when good enough was just fine.

Helpful tips are greatly appreciated.

Lower all 4 slides a few turns and start over. You have them lifted up to high on the adjustment.

Thanks, MotorHead - to confirm--lowering the slides would be turning the adjustment screws in(R) or out(L)?
