Hacked petcock question was created by david-b
As some of you may know, the previous owner of my bike hacked up the petcock. The switch on it was taken off and it's a constant on flow. I've got an inline fuel valve on it to shut it off when not running.

I had the tank off today and cut some of the fuel line (was little too long) and was going to pull the stubby line and cap it off. I thought that was a vac port, since fuel flows from the other port. Is that right? Because when I pulled it off, fuel poured out! Again the PO hacked it up so I don't know what exactly he did, but this is worrying me a little. Am I wrong to think that there should be a vac line going there?

I guess the other question is, where can I buy a petcock, preferably new?

Like I said, have no idea what the hell he was thinking. It looks like he took it apart, screwed it up internally and used gasket sealer to fix it all.

Has anyone tried the custom made ones on there on eBay? No vac lines and on, off, reserve switch.

You probably won't find a new original petcock for you bike. You can buy a working used one on ebay or some people end up putting on an aftermarket petcock.

Yes that is an aftermarket petcock. There are some aftermarket ones on ebay with no vacuum lines and stuff. I try to stay away from that because the aftermarket stuff I've ordered in the past has been cheap Chinese crap that breaks way to easily

I recently replaced my vacuum petcock with an aftermarket version from Z1...Apparently designed for Suzuki, but once I "reclocked" it(Removed fuel outlet plate on the back, rotated 180 degrees, and re-installed) it bolted right up, and cleared the frame. Working fine.I might go back at some point and try rebuilding the original, but for now, I'm flowing fuel, no leaks, no drips, no errors!

The aftermarket Suzuki petcock from Z1Ent has a 44 mm bolt-hole spacing. His GPz might be 34mm.

With the Pingel-adapter-plate type you have to ream out the hole 2-4mm to accept the screen. sparks + fumes = boom.

A late model Police bike petcock may fit -->> those models are included in the cross-reference-supersession info for the 82 GPz750 petcock. 51023-1375 is listed Active at Kawasaki.com.

I could certainly be wrong, (I'm better when I read more carefully! LOL! )but I was told the police bike factory petcock was a replacement for mine, which is 44mm spacing. Pretty pricey, so I didn't really consider it.
