Vac line on carb and airbox ?

Hey all;
Quick questions. I got a stock airbox finally and was installing it and realized that there's 2 lines on the carbs that aren't going anywhere or capped. I've got the vac lines on each carb blocked, but where do the 2 inbetween 1+2 and 3+4 go?!

Pic shows what I'm talking about. Where does this line go? This is probably what's causing some issues.

Second question... How in the HELL do you install the stock airbox on these bad boys? Literally worked on it for an hour today and threw in the towel. I took out the tank, carbs, and the seat and pushed all the wires and harnesses back. Right now I've got the carbs wedged between the airbox and motor, but the little rubber pods on the airbox have half popped inside the box.. HUGE pain in the ass. Any tips?

I appreciate all the help as always!

I believe those hoses are fuel overflow tubes that should be routed to the ground. When installing carbs to your airbox it helps if you have new airbox boots that can easily be manipulated. Roll the boots over each other and it will free up enough room to get your carbs into the intake boots. Once the intake side is secured you can unroll your airbox boots and secure them to the other side of your carbs

Yes, those are vent hoses. They should be routed down between the engine and the frame/swingarm since you have the stock airbox installed. If you had pods, they should be left without hoses. (Just an FYI.)

I thought those had to be left alone for a reason but couldn't remember and searching, couldn't find why they were still open. I had pods, which explains why they were just there.

I'll try the airbox again tonight. The roll-over idea is a good one. New ones would be a ton better, but we'll see how these work out.

If you have older boots I found it worked better to boil them and immediately fold them. It definitely wasn't easy but with a lot of patience it got the job done

Even w pod filters, I would install vent tubing to keep water & road grit from getting into the carburetors.

As for the airbox, new ducts may be available from the dealer or Z1Enterprises.com. Soft pliable rubber makes installation much easier.

Thanks for all the help and tips. Went back to it with a clear head and fresh day and got the airbox on. Ended up pushing all the rubber intake boots inside the airbox some to give alittle more room. Left enough space where I was able to push the carbs into their holders and then push the rubber boots from inside the airbox out. Worked well, just took a little patience. Didn't have a chance to take her for a spin, but the idle was a lot better.
