kz550 petcock on kz650 was created by tiedyed
hey guys, just bought my first motorcycle (kz650b1) for $325 at an antique shop and i got it home to find that the petcock had been robbed off the tank. Upon searching for a replacement on ebay/google shop i have only found kz650 petcocks for $70-100, ebay has some kz550 petcocks that look like a 44mm gap for about $15 and im wondering if this will fit my tank? i have researched petcock replacement and found the adapter plate and 3/8ths fuel valve to be an alright solution. but my question is, will the kz550 petcock fit my tank? or should i just save my pennies and buy an adapter plate and a pingel?
by the way this is my first post in the forum. HEY DUDES!!!!!!

I don't know if a 550 petcock will fit. Some (most?) 80s models have a 34mm bolt-hole spacing.
Z1Enterprises.com sells an aftermarket Suzuki vacuum petcock that should fit your bike.
For reference Z1Ent has a fuel valve info page.
As for a Pingel, you'll have to ream out the tank hole 2-4mm for the fuel valve screen -->>

I don't know about the KZ550 petcock but I just bought this one:
www.z1enterprises.com/ItemDetails.aspx?item=KL18-4358
it's a common fix over on kz650.info
forums.kz650.info/index.php?topic=1221.0
if you end up going with the cheap one and it works, let us know!

You might try z1parts.net
Just bought on for my 77 KZ1000 for $49. Suppose to be a factory replica replacement. I hope it works better than the cheap replacement that came with my bike that didn't last 7 miles before it started coming apart.
