float height adjustment was created by nickleo373
Hey everyone.
Just adjusted my float heights to stop my carbs from leaking into my crankcase. I put the carbs back on the bike and set it to prime and no fuel is flowing. It worked when the carbs weren't attached to the bike but nothing will flow now. I disconnected the fuel hose from the carbs and it flows on the prime setting so it isn't the petcock. Any ideas?

It sounds like you need to address the float height adjustment once again. It happens to the best of us.

You probably bent the tab on the float too much. The valve needle is closing when you put the bowl back on.

Did you do the Service Fuel Level Check? ... to make sure the fuel level in each carburetor is correct?

I had it set too high before to the point where it was spilling over into the intake manifolds and airbox. I'm not exactly sure where I need to measure from to get the correct heights. Does anyone know a specific height for an 81 kz550 with tk22 carbs? My clymer manual doesn't mention a specific number

The actual spec number is in a table at the end of the chapter that has the service fuel level procedure. (3.5mm)

Is that number the distance the tang is supposed to be bent?

No. Using a fuel gauge, the measurement is the fuel level in relation to the carb body.
The manual should have the specifics for doing the Service Fuel Level Check.
