I searched for the answere to this ? but no luck. Its probably been answered on here a hundred times.Well here it goes,Keihin or Mikuni smooth bore carbs.Which are the best?I want to step up from my 28mm carbs. The 28s run fine, but I can't leave anything alone.

Lay out your engine combination for better responses. Also the type of riding you do. What sacrifices you would make, like fuel economy, or low end torque.

My engine is 1075,425 lift cams,z1r valves, strengthened main cap, welded 900 crank, dyna s ignition,900 air box with k&n filter, kerker pipe.I ride to work mostly.Thats around 35 miles round trip.I like having quick take off,Im not much on going 150 mph.It runs strong with the 28mm carbs.I hear people on kzrider talking about the 29mm smoothbore carbs.I bought the 28mm carbs 15 years ago off a guy who ran 28mm carbs with good luck.It was a big jump from the 26mm.

As motor head replied, How are you mostly riding this bike is the question... Daily cruiser, weekends open road/twisties, city stop and go, rarely twist her WOT, or mid range power pulls, WOT/racing etc,,,,

With that build, 29's will work nicely for the daily with some spunk, will work just fine at lower rpm but since you're looking for a little more oompha....

Assuming head was ported as well...

Kehin 31-33's or Miks RS34's....

I usually don't wot from a start,Im goin around 25-30 mph on straight stretches or on ramps. So I'd say I want power from 25mph -110mph.The head is a 78 1000 with z1r valves, because there bigger than the stock ones.No port work done though.

Thx for the info

my vote is for the mikunis. 29's are nice thats for sure but theyre just way over priced anymore. You can get a nice set of 32 to 34s just as cheap or cheaper. I Wouldnt go over a 34 for what you have.
