Hey everyone
I took my 81 KZ550 on a test ride today after cleaning the carbs and putting the stock air box back on instead of the pods the previous owner installed. He did not jet the carbs for the pods. On the test ride I noticed the rpms wouldn't go higher than about 2500. There was no power past that and if I tried to push it further without shifting the engine would begin to struggle and sputter. I believe this is a carb issue because after I cleaned the carbs the bike ran as it should and there was enough power through each gear and the engine didn't struggle. I checked the fuel tank and petcock and couldn't find any rust that would be reclogging the carbs. Does anyone know what this could be?
Thanks
