I just finished cleaning the carbs out. Bike has 9400 miles. Everything is cleaned, float needles dont have a groove in them. Float levels were way off. Fuel was leaking into carbs (bench test with clear tube, carbs level.) 2 of the carbs were almost a 1/2 inch above the gasket surface. I got them allset so no leaks. Bike did not have die from full throttle before cleaning. Did leak gas before cleaning. No leaks in carb boots (propane torch method). Edit: Bike runs otherwise perfect.

What are you using for air filtration? Ed

I figured it out. Apparently the air filter was not the right one, and it was making the bike run super lean. Tried my filter from my 82 kz650 and it worked like a charm.
