No Choke? was created by treitz
Just read somewhere that if you can start your bike without the choke it's too rich. If you've read my tuning threads, you know what's going on with my bike, if not... here's a quick update.

KZ400, 2-1 intake, VM34 carb, POD. Black plugs, but if I lean out my pilot or main, it runs super lean.

I guess my only question in this thread is whether or not I be concerned about the fact that my bike doesn't require any choke to start.

I'd have thought it depends on the temp of the air and engine.
At the moment it's sunny and very warm here, my bike starts without choke but still takes a mile or two to warm up and run properly.
Last week when it was colder it needed the choke to start.
I try and avoid the choke whenever I can as I hate the idea of the instant 4000  rpm!

I haven't read your other thread but is your timing correct? For some reason when my timing chain was off 1 tooth (I know, it's been since fixed) it would only start no choke. Weird.

It does depend to some extent on the outside temperature. My bike normally needs some choke after sitting overnight or longer, but it can start with no choke when the temp is around 90*F or above. Ed
