Having problems with a off idle stumble so I striped the carbs down and am ready to clean the pilots out and the bodys. Been reading Barryman's carb soak has lost a lot of power over the years and that boiling the bodies in lemon juice, vinegar and water for 45 min then clean water for 30 really does a great job.

Would follow that up with Patton's way of holding passages off while blowing air and cleaner through all.

Will pick up the gal of carb soak if you really think its better (want it clean) but I already have the Vin, lemon and water, not to mention about 5 cans of spray cleaner and a good enough compressor.

Thanks.

The original Berryman's formula may still be available - I believe it's their "professional" parts cleaner - all of the plastic & rubber parts must be removed. Berrymans provides msds info.

Hot water & PineSol should be a good cleaner to use, as pinesol is non-corrosive. I used it to clean a fuel valve.

I must have cleaned by boiling and soaking my BS34mm Mikunis with Pinesol and other green stuff six times and had no luck, finally I got industrial strenght carburetor and cold parts cleaner from an auto supply store called KLEEN FLO and I cant believe the crap that came out of them, no wonder they did not work!!

I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.

Be careful of the coating on the slides. There was a post last year of a member who soaked his slides in something and took off the coating.
