Float Needle help was created by Johanu
Hello KZ Riders

I picked up a KZ440 A4 in really good shape,
started her up and sounded pretty clean for the first few seconds, soon after when you gave it throttle it would bog and not catch up at all.
Notice quite a bit of fuel leaking from the carbs, so i figured thats where I should start.

took them off and they were surprisingly clean, but im still going to give it a go with a carb cleaner.

here is what I could find

the float needles look like they are different sizes. I dont know which one is original or OEM.

and I made a mistake of mixing all the parts, although all jets are the same size.

I'm stuck, where do I go from here?

Since the carbs were leaking and clearly someone has installed at least 1 wrong float needle (that will absolutely need to be replaced), I would just replace both float needles and be done with it. Z1E sells a "6-pack" of them for $29.30. Ed

Thank you

the o rings #92055B right there on the picture were never in the carb when I took it apart, the rebuilt kits which i am going to need does not have a detailed list of the conent, any experience with these kits?

and gasktes are gone so I am going to order 2 rebuilt kits.

also, to check bowl height, would you say a caliper is absolutely necessary, or the clear tube line test will work just fine?

You could always cut your own gasket(easy since you only do two). Then research the size o-rings(gas resistant) you need and scoop them up from Ace or a specialty store like Grainger( they sell in bulk though) but a considerable amount can be saved in scratch going that route. If your needles aren't damaged and the rubber tips are good on the float needles run with it. If the float needles are pitted spend the money on needles.

The o-rings marked 92055-B are part number 92055-1088. They are still an "Active" part so any dealer can order them.

Regarding fuel level in the carb bowls, the clear tube method is the only truly accurate way to measure it, so you won't need calipers to do that. Ed
