KZ550 alternative carbs for TK22 was created by accubond
Hi,

i searching but could not find anything regarding other carbs with a better choke system that will fit on a KZ550 1981.
Or why would someone stick to the TK Carbs?
I put all of the choke flaps out and epoxied the holes shut.

Works, even better with the fast idle mod. Thanks for that.

Thanks

David

I am working on some choke flaps. But may be awhile.

Also, sometimes you can fatten up the pilot jetting and needle to get out of the choke sooner.

Other than the choke, I prefer the TK22's for simplicity.

Ok thanks,

so i need to set the needle in clip position 1?

ok, the TK carbs are simple but are there some carbs that fit with a bit fitting/almost plug and play?

Position 1 would be the top position, and would lean it out worse. Factory needles (in the U.S.) were not adjustable, but the rebuild kits come with adjustable versions of the stock one. The equivalent position for a stock needle is 2nd from the top. So you may want to try 3rd from the top. However, one clip position is a rather large move, so you may want to only go a half step using a shim washer and shim wire. (Details are on the site under "Shimming needles".)

If the bike starts to run worse as it warms up, that indicates it's too rich.
