Replacement fuel petcock was created by DesertWizardB1
Anyone know where I can get an inexpensive fuel petcock for my 77 KZ1000 LTD? My tank is the original one with the 22mm single hole. I checked Z1 Ent. but it looks like Jeff just has Pingels now and I don't want to have to spend $90 bucks. Unfortunately I didn't see a rebuild kit there either. I don't care if it has a reserve position just a simple on/off would be fine. If I need to use an adapter it would have to be 22mm to fit the tank. Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks,

Len

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I saw this kit but it doesn't include the part I need which is the plastic cone with 2 holes in it that is the actual valve. My petcock doesn't leak gas on the outside it won't shut off completely. Thanks again.

As time goes on,we're finding out how the Ethanol in the gas affects our older bike's fuel systems. It will dissolve some plastics, and attack rubber fuel system parts. It has been reported to internally swell fuel lines to the point that gas barely flows, and if your float bowl needle valves are rubber tipped, it will atack them too.

I agree, the vinyl fuel line I use gets hard as a rock in just 1 riding season. I'm switching to tygon tubing this year.

One alternative is to use fuel tubing designated for fuel injected car motors....it does seem to be pretty resistant to Ethanol in today's fuels.

Here's what I bought (5/16"). You can buy it by the foot and it should last a very loooong time. Ed
