lost o-ring? was created by ggenovez
Hi all,

I think I'm asking about a null issue but I figured better safe than sorry.

I was teaching my son about carburetors and cleaning out my mikuni on my kz-1100.

I rinsed the off and then told him to air dry them with the compressor.

While doing that the flat o-ring that sits on the carb body blow away, never to be seen again. I figured I better order a replacement. Kawasaki.com does not she that the part is there??? odd?

This is the o-ring that sits after the pilot jet. looking closer, the o-ring doesn't really cover anything and when you but the bowl back on it covers the area with the o-ring???

Was that part removed post production?

Thanks

G

That o-ring is not sold that I know of. I have used a regular o-ring in its place with out issue.
You can buy an o-ring kit from several stores that will have many sizes, or just a single o-ring size. Ace Hardware has drawers with these. Harbor Freight has kits, as well as most Auto Parts Stores.

Thanks Motor head.

I guess my question is, since it does not really seal anything and it's already covered by the float gasket, is it even needed?

Well there is a metal plug there in the carb body. So it is there to seal the plug off, along with the bowl gasket. Are both really needed? Well they/ Kawasaki thought so. o-rings are cheap.

Very true,

But they also removed it from the diagram ;)

Like you said they're cheap, I'll just make a special trip for them.

Thanks
