Polyester cap over Pilot Jet was created by Mid life crisis
Hi there.
I have a 1981 KZ750 (4 cyl) and I am cleaning the carbs. What is the purpose of the polyester cap over the pilot jet?
I notice that mine do not fir that snugly anymore, but snug enough that they don't fall off if turned upside down.
Do these caps need to seal that opening? If so, can I use a fuel-resistant gasket maker to seal it up?
Thanks.
P.S. Now that I have you here, what is the stock setting for the pilot adjust?

Hi
The pilot jet is fed with gas via a bleed pipe from either the primary or secondary main jets - cant remember which. The cap is a cover for access to the pilot jet. Carbs wont run right without the cap . According to kawasaki.com owner info, parts diagrams etc the O rings for the cap are still active - part #92055-1088.
Are the caps sitting snug enough to run without problems ?
Stock setting on the pilot mix screw on the top front outside of carbs is 2 turns out
God Luck

Thanks for the help, folks.
The caps stay in on their own, but it doesn't take much to pull them out. I think I will order some of the o-rings and be done with it.
This is currently a non-running bike, so I am not sure if it runs with the caps as they are.
Thanks for the setting on the screw. All four are currently set at 4 turns out. I am not sure if the bike was running with that setting, but I will certainly bring them in to what is being suggested.
Thanks again.
Peter
