I recently purchased a 1985 kz1000 police bike. I ordered a spare set of carbs off ebay but they are slightly different.I am trying to find out the year of these carbs so I can get parts for them/ determon what parts are missing?
The seller said they came off a kz police bike but didnt know the year.

My 85 carbs have a plug over the pilot jet. the carbs i ordered didnt have any plugs but some parts had been removed so i dont know if they were supposed to be there or not. the ones from my 85 set would not fit (there too big) I read in another post on here where patton stated some of the later carbs did not have the plugs over the pilot jet.

Does anyone know how to tell if the plugs are supposed to be in the carbs or not?
some other differences is the slide had a curve at the bottom but the 85 slide is flat at the bottom. My 85 main jet is 125 the ebay carbs are 127.5 main jets.

I think you are correct. I checked the parts with partzilla seem to match.
Do you know if I can use these on my 85 kz1000 police bike?

Yes you can, no real difference between 2 or 4 air vent hole models.

You will probably need to change everything over to the Police 1000 spcs as far as jetting is concerned but they will physically fit. The black paint on the carbs is a dead giveaway
