Which carb(s) is/are overflowing?
Sometimes helps to rap smartly and repeatedly against the float bowl with a plastic mallet or large screwdriver handle while the engine is idling -- and might see that gasoline stops discharging from the overflow hose.
And of course, an aftermarket in-line fuel filter was fitted into each fuel line before any gasoline was allowed into the freshly cleaned carbs.
