Hi Brian,

Welcome to KZR.

I'm pretty sure that you're describing constant velocity carbs "...the top of the carb is more a a circle shape than the long and narrow one..." Pics would help. How do you know you have kz1000 carbs? Do you know the year?

Bill

What you have should be the Mikuni BS34 CV carbs. To synch them you need special equipment. It is really not that hard once you have the correct equipment. What makes you think they need to be synched?

The bike runs just not just not very well and bogs down when given throttle. 2 of the spark plugs keep fouling out and two seem fine. After about 30 seconds of running the #2 and #3 exaust isnt hot like the other ones. i can touch them but the other ones are really hot. I cleaned the carbs twice but i still cant get the thing to run right. I can post pictures later today if you think you can help . Thanks

Has the bike ever ran good with these carbs, if so when did they start doing this?

When you switched motors were they the same size/type (ie. both 750's) and did you check valve clearances especially on the 2 + 3 cylinders on the current motor?

You really should invest in a Kawasaki Service Manual. No owner of a KZ should be without one. They usually are available on eBay, just be sure to get one for your exact year/model bike as there are differences. Ed

+1 on what 650 Ed says, also make sure it is a Factory Service Manual and not a Clymer as there are a few key booboos to avoid. Next thing to buy is a good set of feeler guages (I prefer metric ones as it is a metric bike) Napa sells them for about $12. Then search in the engine section on valve clearance to get some idea of how and certainly why it needs to be done. And have fun :)
