Bike running rough after changing tensioner gasket

Hi,

just got a 1984 GPz750. Been giving her some TLC these days : rebuilt the starter engine, fork seals, few gaskets there and there.

I changed the tensioner gasket today as it was leaking - took off the carbs for that purpose. I made sure to line up the piston to the T mark before removing the bolts on the tensioner.

All was good, put everything back together but now the bike runs rough from about 4,000rpm and won't go much further than 6-7,000rpm (12-13 is the redline).

I thought some dirty fuel got in the lines and filter so cleant them thoroughly, still nothing. I'm pretty sure I did a good job at sealing the carbs to the engine and airbox.

So my guess is that by moving around the carbs I ended up puting some dirt in the jets ...

anybody had a similar experience ? any thoughts ?

thanks in advance

Max

mistery solved - turns out the airbox is freakin dodgy and need an airtight seal - pretty hard to get with that design - hands are sore but managed to get it back on track
