carb holders 16065-1046 OH NO! was created by johnjones750csr
Oh no, I need carb holders and they are discontinued. This is not good, Z1 couldn't get them, and kawasaki has them discontinued, so ron ayers wont be able to get them either. Shit. Is there any others that will fit my 1982 CSR 750 Twin? I tried fixing them a couple of times and they hold for a couple months and start leaking again. I've tried like 4 kinds of sealant with no luck.

Thanks

Perhaps bountyhunter or steell will chime in. If you don't get an answer here, try the KZ400.com site - ask in the 750-Twin sections. With any luck, perhaps the earlier carb holders can be used?

Also, try looking around the JBM Industries site - they make reproduction rubber parts for motorcycles.

If all else fails, you can always make a metal flange and connect with a section of hose. I've done that on a few 400's with success.

I think I may have found a solution. Well two of them. I've been in contact with Z1 enterprises and they did some tape measurement on some carb holders that they have in stock. Turns out that the carb holders for a Yamaha XS400SG/SH/SJ 80-82 May fit.

The other solution that I came up with is underneith the rubber face of those carb holders is a metal plate. I sanded off all of the old messed up rubber down to bare metal with a rubber ring on the inside. Went and got some gasket material bulk from the parts store and made a new sealing surface for the boot. Used Seal-All on the boot to gasket surface and use a permatex non-rtv gasoline safe sealant that handles higher heat on the gasket to head surface. This Stuff I got hardens and doesn't stay guey like the blue stuff that I tried. I'll keep everyone posted.
