How to Disconnect Fuel Line(s) was created by PaulyWally
I need to drain my gas tank and refill with fresh gas. Does anyone know how to disconnect a fuel line of this type?

If you're worried about fuel getting all over, before doing any gas line work, get some golf tee's. They are tapered and will stop the gas flow. I'd replace any plastic of rubber fuel lines too, as today's fuel for the most part contains Ethanol, that attacks rubber and plastic fuel lines.

Cut them off and throw them away. Don't always "just pull", it's possible to yank the brass pipe out of the aluminum casting.

On fuel lines that you want to keep (black rubber tubing designed to handle modern fuel), if the hose is super tight on the pipe, I will use pliers and sort of pinch the tubing to release it from the pipe, then wiggle the hose off. Then maybe trim 1/4" off to have a fresh end.

I've been doing that... on every part of the hose. It seems the harder I pull, the more they grip the nipple on the tank valve.

I assume the in-line "barrel" connector has something to do with it... but I can't seem to figure that one out either.

I'm not worried about getting gas all over. I just can't get them off. And I think these are fairly new fuel lines. I bought the bike 18 months ago, and these are the newest-looking things on the bike.

They do not look like fuel grade tubing to me. I would just cut them all off and replace them with real fuel line. Ed

Razor blade those things off and replace them with the correct size rubber fuel lines.Use a little high vacuum grease on the pet cock nipple(giggity) to ease removal next time.
