...Not sure if this has ever been mentioned before. But, here goes. :)

...If you ever run across hard air box boots that you think are trash and ready to be $#!+ canned. Or, are trying to remove your own and can't because they're too hard and won't cooperate. Well, DO NOT DESTROY THEM taking them off and DO NOT TOSS them afterwards. Instead, go get your Wife's, Mom's, or Sister's hair dryer and bathe those rock hard, stiff boots in HOT AIR.

...One at a time, thirty seconds or so of hot air will turn those rock hard, unforgiving air tunnels into nice soft pliable, easily removable and replaceable units. No need to trash, or replace them.

...You can even use this method with good soft boots. It will make the job of removal and replacement even easier. Of course you won't need as much heat with good boots, half the time will suffice. But, a blow dryer will definitely make the job easier either way.

...Give it a try if you haven't already. You'll be amazed! ;)

Great tip!!

Too bad I didn't read your post a few weeks ago...

I ended up cutting mine off with an exacto knife, then buying new ones from Z1...

Installing the new ones...I soaked them in warm water which made all the difference in getting them back on...

Thanks again,

Dave

...the amazing thing about the hot air is, you can even get rock hard rubber to soften up. You'd need to boil water to do that and likely end up burning your fingers trying to install them.

...plus, hot air has another big advantage over hot water. If the tubes start to cool and get stiff again during installation, just hit them with the hairdryer again while they're in place. With hot water, you'd need to remove them for another dip, or pour water on them in place. Not a very good idea.
