1979 kz1000b/ltd big cams, strait 4 - 1 full open exhaust, factory air box without the silencer, complete new wiring harness, rejetted carbs and hyway pegs.
engine cuts out was created by jimray2300
When im riding down the highway on my 79 kz1000 ltd and when i use my highway pegs, my bike acts like it is getting to much air or not enough fuel and starts bogging down, but if i move my feet back to the factory pegs it runs great. Does anyone know what could be the problem? By the way i am running the stock air box without the silencer.

It is pretty simple really when you move your feet you are changing the airflow over the bike.

Yes but how can i stop the cut out so i can use the highway pegs. Sorry i should have been more specific

As an experiment you may want to re-install the silencer to see if that improves the problem. Ed

Thanks i will have to try to find one. The bike didnt have one when i got it

Does this happen at steady throttle, is it bogging or surging? If it is at a steady throttle setting and it is bogging then it is running to rich in the midrange, raise the needle clip one spot. If it is surging then lower the needle clip one spot. Before I would do that however the easiest thing would be to do what 650ed suggested, find and put the silencer back in.

Yea its bogging at a steady throttle setting but only when the wind blows lol
