Cracked carb 87 KZ305 was created by goallight
Hello,

First time poster here. I have recently acquired a 1987 KZ305 LTD. When I started to tear it down. I noticed one of the carb bodies is cracked and the throttle cable mount was cracked off and someone had zip tied it in place. Obviously I want to replace this. However I am having a hard time locating a set. Is there other years/models that anyone can let me know that are compatible? Will the older 305's also work. I am finding parts for the early 80s but not so much for the 87.

possible important info?

I plan on running pods and change out the exhaust from the stock. This also will be my first attempt at making a cafe racer. (not even sure this is a good model to do it with yet.)

Thanks again for any help

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationWelcome aboard! According to Kawasaki.com the following models all use the same carbs. Putting pods on those CV carbs will cause you to become a true carb tuning expert or land you in an asylum. ;) Don't hurt or toss the airbox. If you ever get your bike running adequately with pods and decide not to return to the airbox you can sell it on eBay for $$$$$$ to someone who gave up on pods. Notice below that even part of a KZ305 airbox is about $60; the complete unit would be more than $100. Ed

Thanks! Yeah. I am used to either fuel injection or single Harley carbs (never had to tear my ninjas carbs apart yet). This should be interesting. Unfortunately the airbox has got to go for the look I want.

That is what I am noticing. I can easily make my money back from what I spent by just selling some of the spare parts.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationThe diagrams at Partzilla show that the earlier 305s have the same carburetor assy. As for the broken cable mount or bracket, you can cross-ref that & check the part number on ebbaayy. Below is a carb body - you'll need to verify whether or not it's correct.
