Hi i have a 79 kz 1000 st.
Stock exhaust.
Pods x4

I cant figure out what main jet, idle jet and needle position i should use.

I'm not 100% sure but I think stock jets are okay when just adding pods. It's when you add pods and aftermarket exhaust that you must re-jet.

Basic rule of thumb as follows but please note, also depends on other factors such as elevation, temperatures, humidity etc....

Condition of plugs sooty (rich) or running lean...?

Also insure valve clearance, timing, power to coils, ignition components (points/conder or EI) is all to spec.... Not to mention Carbs are sync'd to spec.
