difference between 82 83 83 kz1100a mikuni bs34

Hello kzriders,
After a considerable period of contemplating my mortality this is supposedly the year I take the 83 KZ1100a3 Shaft out of the garage. My carbs were just a mess. I didn't store it away very well.
I cleaned them three times with dip, spray and compressed air but could only get it running but not running well, and not consistently on all 4 cylinders.
I bought a pair from an 82 kz1100a and there I notice one or two differences, namely the mikuni BS34 from my 83 has two holes at the intake vs four holes on the BS34 from the 82. The other difference is the top cap, The 83 has thin steel caps and the 82 has thicker aluminum caps.
I have been searching and not finding the answer to what might the difference between the intakes be for?
Is there anything anyone would point out that may cause me issue with using the 82 carbs?
Thank you

The top set (w/the four holes at the edge) pictured is correct for the KZ1100-A 81-82, and I believe the 83 as well.
That is my .02 cents

Daveo, Thanks for the reply,
The ones on the right (2 holes) are the stock ones from my 1983.
The rack on the left (4 holes) are the ones I bought used from an 1982 kz1100a2.
The 82s are bolted on the bike now, I'll put gas to them this weekend.
I guess I'll see if I need to make any modifications to the BS34s from the 1982.
If WG or anyone would like to share experience I'm all ears.
What do the extra little holes do? Run it and find out I will!

Too bad that link don’t work anymore. I have a 82 with a single position clip needle. Book says I should have the 5 position needle clip ones. I don’t remember changing them. Just set up the carbs Got 122.5 mains in , screws at 1.25 turns out per manual. Might be a little lean; I’ll look at plugs tomorrow. It would pull great till I twisted wide open and it felt like it took a min to catch up. I’m thinking adjust the air screws then see if it needs the 125 jets.
