Throttle Cables was created by geobass
I have two sets of carbs for a Z!B. 26 from a KZ900... I think, and 28 mm that are period correct for the Z1. I need new cables and I am wondering if I have to order cables for the specific carbs and do I need different lengths for the push and pull?

Thanks,

George

I think the OEM cables have 2 different part numbers, but aftermarket cables will use 2 of the same cable.

Sometimes two different throttle cables are required because of needing two slightly different curvatures of the pipes that screw into the throttle grip housing.

If both have the same curvature, after the first is screwed into position, the second won't screw in because it's curved pipe hits the curved pipe that's already screwed in.

The shallower curve allows clearance needed to turn past the tighter curve.

Good Fortune! :)

Z1E sent me two of the same cables and they work fine , you just have to figure out what order to screw them on.

Do you have stock handle bars ?

To tell you the truth I have no idea. Most parts on this bike came from a kz900.

Install the pull cable and adjust it so you have the amount of free play you want. Then install the push cable. Adjust it to remove slack, constantly checking throttle action (snap close). Once the throttle return becomes a little slow, back off the push cable a turn or so.
