needle clip position for +# tnt keihin cvc was created by donthaveakawman
what is a good starting point for needle jet clip position tuning on keihin constant velocity carburetors?
It may be a stuck slide due to bent needle jet holders but the acceleration seems to be sluggish at higher rpm all of a sudden.
the plugs seem to be fouled a little lean -kind of white.
sometimes it chugs along and takes off like something broke loose- very violent acceleration with no throttle change often times when a vehicle is behind the bike.
backpressure? as of now there is a 1.5" baffle and it has gotten a little better as opposed to very open.
also a big concern is drilling the slide I did not drill the slide as there are two holes as opposed to one and I just am not sure. I talked to a carburetor technician and was told not to drill the slide on this model of carburetor with the jet kit.

the photo of the slide am I going too far by drilling it. I probably wont but I would like to know, it is still popping and the plugs are white/fouling.
I took the clip position from the #4 to the #5.
also I sprayed some carb cleaner through the brass jet/holes up top until it sprayed through the lower holes.(got my face but not in my eye).

Would return carbs to stock settings, replace any damaged parts, and not do any drilling.
And always wear eye protection when spraying carb cleaner.
Good Fortune!

still havent found the cure for the unintended acceleration. I took off the tiny fuel filter that I got from z1enterprises and found myself a gigantic screen filter from the local kawasaki dealer. have yet to try it but from the looks of it I will see a difference.
maybe later I will go outy 5k and try it on for size.

stock needle jets are burnt take a looksee at the old needles. not sure if they caught fire or if they are gummed up with something but the valves were too tight and the neddlejet holders were bent. how do the needle jets come out of there? pop em? screw em? light em on fire?Patton wrote: Would return carbs to stock settings, replace any damaged parts, and not do any drilling.

I went for another cleaning and the needle jets appear fine, a little gasket sealer for the cvc lids never hurt.
