How to tell 34mm CVs for KZ and GS Suzukis apart ? was created by mtkawboy
Someeone gave me a nice set of 34 mm CV Mikunis. Does anyone know how to tell by the outside which they fit, KZ1000J/KZ1100 or Suzuki GS1100E ? Took bowl off of one and it appears to have a jet kit in it. Main is new 132.5 and pilot is new 32.5 best I can tell. I didnt check the needle yet. Thanks for any help

One of the biggest tells is a choke lever. Most Suzuki's had a cable operated choke and the Kawis had a pull lever right on the side of the carbs.

There should be an ID stamped on the carbs (on one of the flanges where the carbs connect to the carb assembly holder. It is my understanding that the carbs used on the Suzuki's begin with a 4.

Still working on picture. Cant find any numbers or letters but to the right of the choke lever looking at the carbs from the end is a cover about 1 inch across with 3 screws in it. What does that do and does that narrow anything down ? I have 3 sets of GS1100 Cvs and have never seen that cover on any of them

Mystery cover by choke lever is a coasting diaphragm Id guess like an anti back fire valve ?? Its found on carbs for an 81 & 82 KZ1000J and on the ELR replica. Nothing else I looked up like the police 1000s show this part. If anyone has any more info Id sure appreciate hearing about it.

The picture above is the carbs Im talking about. The book only shows them with these diaphragms on each carb {the cover with 3 screws} for KZ1000Js and ELR 1000s, is that correct ? There are no numbers anywhere on the carbs where they normally are. Thanks for your help
