I have a remote tank that looks just like that one. I bought it, the adjustment tool shown and a set of mercury columns at the same time. That was 25+ years ago and I'm still using them regularly. I bought the mercury columns instead of the guages because there are no moving parts/never wondering if a guage is accurate or needing calibration.

I had thought about making one out of an old cylinder shaped lawnmower gas tank back then but I'm glad i bought the plastic tank because its easy to see the fuel level.

Over 30 years with z1's, Currently down to only one 75, a j model dragbike, and 2 KZ1000 dragbikes.

I've never used the remote tank, but I have used the other 3 tools. I was not very happy with the first set of gauges (in the orange box). One of the gauges became flaky after very little use. The other set of gauges (in the silver box) works REALLY well. My friend gave them to me when he bought a F.I. bike and no longer needed them. I've used them several times and like them a lot; they are very accurate and their dampers work well and totally eliminate flutter in the gauges. The carb screwdriver tool is not absolutely necessary, but it makes syncing the carbs easier. It allows you to hold the screw in the proper position while tightening the little lock nut down. You can do the same thing with a flat bladed screwdriver and wrench, but the carb tool makes it easier to tighten the lock nut without turning the screw at the same time. Ed

Good feedback

i dont want to blow 65-80 on a set that will flake out..might as well get none if it does not set them right

as always,or most of the time at least, the reason things cost more is that the quality goes up...
i wonder if the carb tool is different for 26/28/29 muikunis...kawasaki...honda etc...the socket nut drive part of it

I better step up to the plate and buy the nicer set...i have seen the ones in the metal box...this below set seems different/black case?

does your set have all these adapters and look like this set

I bought the first Vac set, POS in the results.. compared to the Morgan unit, well there isn't a comparison!...

Seriously Craig, spend the extra $30 over the cheap set or ~ same $120 as 2nd set and go with a Morgan, you won't be disappointed... ;)

Fuel tank, I use my KZ tank on a portable bench I have but this would be the way to go, hang off a vertical rise, handle bar etc...

Jeff.Saunders wrote: Hospital IV stands are VERY useful in the garage.

I use mine to hold auxillary gas tanks, vacuum gauges, even my test meter (which now has a zip-tie loop on it...).

The curly hooks on the top, the adjustible height, the heavy base of free moving wheels, just make it a constantly used item in my garage. You can find them on ebay or craigslist for $10-$25

Jeff.Saunders wrote: If you get to choose the IV stand, select one with 5 wheels rather than 4 - they are a little more stable.

For the top, 2 curly hooks or 4 - more is better. I leave my auxillary fuel tank and mercury stix permanently on one IV stand, and then I have more hooks for an test meter or anything else to hand up.

They also double as a coat hanger for my leather jacket...

If your bike has mechanical slide carburetors, doing the initial mechanical synchronization can minimize the variance between carbs. Some say it's a waste of time, but if it keeps the engine from sucking the fluid from a synchronizer, then it is time & effort well spent. You could eyeball the slides to get them close.

I used the drill bit method to set the slides on my VM24s. Then synchronized the carbs using a homemade device (1/4" watering system fittings & 1/4" clear tubing; 2-cycle oil as the fluid).

I am a cheap guy so I used an old lawm mower fuel tank. Holds about a gallon of gas, I wrapped a clothes hanger around the middle then attached a bungie chord to the hanger. I just used an old in line petcock I had laying around to turn the gas on and off.
I use a very old Motion Pro mercury stix I bought over 30 years ago for synching the carbs. Still works great.
