Ok I bought A 1980 KZ550A. It came with pod filters. 1st I cant get the bike to start with out using starter fluid and it runs great but when I come to a stop and put it in first the bike turns off when I try to get going agian.

2nd It has TK22 carbs and I've taken them apart and cleaned them up but they still do the same thing. I also have the 4 guage synchronizer but I dont know what I should tune them too. I think the carb is getting way too much air.

Ok now 3rd the carbs where jetted but to what I dont know. What size should my spark plugs be and what gap. I would be greatful if anyone can help me with any of theses problems.

Are all four choke flaps in place and working properly?

There are two different manuals in my signature. You should download them both.

Also there is a link to TK-22 info. It has info on stock jetting etc.

As Testarossa said, the hard-starting is most likely the choke flaps.

Before getting too far into tuning, you will probably want to check the valve lash and a compression test. And then you will want to make sure the electrical system is working properly, including timing and voltage to the coils.

Jetting and tuning is really the last step in the process.

The TK-22's run fine with pods with proper jetting, but even with the stock jetting, the bike would still start, run, and be drivable. The main symptoms of under jetting would be stumbling while cruising at low to medium speed, and maybe some popping on the exhaust. Popping on the exhaust can also be an exhaust leak, or the air system failing, so that symptom, alone, may not be a jetting issue.
