Strange Question.... was created by Spectre1982
I have a horribly stripped pilot jet in my No. 4 carburetor that I fear is beyond extracting. I was reading on some forums about people using nitric acid to dissolve away the pilot jet that's stuck in the passage. Has anybody heard about this? It will obviously need a new jet.
Are the carbs on these old Kawa's made of Aluminum?

The carbs are die cast material on the older bikes,im guessing yours are the same.
Im not sure how youd keep it from affecting rest of carb body while eating away the jet.
Do you have a picture of it?

It's not supposed to react with Aluminum. It would probably tear up the die cast. That's off the table...
The extractor just twisted out more brass. It is stuck in there good. Not sure what else to try.

Jig it up in a drill press with a machine vise. Then just drill it with progressive small drill bits till it is close and pick the rest of the brass out. Then send a tap down to clean it up. That's what I would do..
Or buy a set of carbs on ebay for 30-50 bucks, and use 1 of them.

I would soak it in Kroil for a couple days then try removing it. That stuff really does help. Ed

Finally got it with the extractor. I drilled it down pretty good and finally the extractor caught and pulled it out.
