choke issue on one carb? was created by kzcurt
I have one of my carbs choke plunger that appears to be frozen? it will not move in from where it is. Which way do i access this, thru the top of carb or the brass nut that holds the plunger? or can i just pry against it till it pops in? any suggestions?

A little heat from a propane torch will free it. Make sure you are trying to move it while you heat it so you can stop the heat as soon as it moves. You will need to take it apart and clean it after its free'd.

Be REAL careful about using a torch on a carb. If there's ANY fuel left in or near it you could have a big problem very quickly. Ed

from under the top cover for the slide valve, you will see the port for the plunger. Also the brass nut there in your photo. I'd use some PB Blaster to see if it will free up. If it is open, that carb will be very rich, fouling the plug.

There is gummed up fuel that is holding that in there like glue. You could get some really hot water also and dip it in there, its not that much heat needed to loosen them. Ive done lots this way and never had a problem. Its better then getting in there and poking around with a screw driver or sharp object and buggering up everything. Most of the time now I use the heat of the my ultrasonic cleaner and run one cycle and they pull right out.I do this on float posts also, better then having a carb with a broke off post=useless.
