Just joined up over here and I'm very excited about my 1978 KZ1000 A2 pics to come

It currently has pods and I would like to revert to the stock air box. Does anyone have the complete rig with boots, clamps, snorkel and silencer ?? I believe those are the misc parts for the setup but I could be wrong

I have the mikuni 28vm with accelerator pumps if that matters at all.

Hoping to get one with some pliable boots of course.

So the bike is tuned up with these pods and 4 into 1 kerker for close to sea level operation.

The current jets are 120 main and 17.5 pilot

If I revert to a stock air box and I live at 4,800 feet

Should I switch main jet to 117.5 or 115?

should the pilot change at all?

thanks

Mollusk,

A friend of mine, Tom Sudman, has a ton of parts, but only for 1970's z900's and KZ 1000's. Send him a email at SUDMANRACING@watchtv.net. He used to race those bikes, you can google him and IDBA. He really knows his stuff and if anyone has used parts, it'll be him. I do know though, that finding boots in decent condition, is pretty hard.

It's been a while now since I last talked with him, so if the email address isn't any good anymore, let me know and I'll find out if he has a new one.

I'll look around, see if I still have a box. I used to have a bike like yours, same year. Might have some parts still laying around.

smart man :)
You would be doing yourself a big favor going with new boots from Z1Enterprise. Old ones will be a HUGE PITA and will most likely split on you.
You can put them in hot water and let them soften up a bit if you want to give it a go. Some on here make up a solution that will somewhat "renew" the rubber if it isn't too far gone. Can't remember what is in it at the moment.

Any parts turn up Bill? I just got around to emailing that guy. I'll have to wait and see. It's incredible to see how many bikes have these dang pods and how few stock boxes are left. WTF

thanks

This one is much cheaper. Both of these are for a Z1 but you won't have the expence of buying the boots. I would consider this the best deal going.

The DOREMI piece comes with the lid and the filter, hence the higher price. I'm sure Z1E is buying DOREMI parts as well and can probably get the same piece shown on Web!ke site and maybe get a bit of a discount. If nothing else, you'll be supporting one of our favorite vendors if you call Z1E.

So that's the Z1 air box. I'm looking for the stock '78 z1000 air box which is a much more complicated apparatus with the snorkel and silencer etc.

I guess the older model would fit just fine?

Is one better then the other?

Does the older model look a lot better?

SIDE NOTE: can I just say how terrible these code writing word things are, the words are so warped, I can probably discern 1 out of 10. So annoying !!!!

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationThe Z1 part will work. If you add the filter and lid the Z1enterprise part is still a little cheaper.

Here is one on eBay.

Trying to find the original box and snorkel and silincer will be a chore.

I am holding on to all my original air boxes.
