Loss of throttle was created by KzRyan
Hoping i posted this in the right cat. I was riding home from class today and was in the middle of a mild-moderate acceleration when i lost all throttle. engine will run forever but no power control. Im new with bikes and therefore I've not been able to experience a broken throttle cable. I do know that all i have is a pull cable (or push, whichever is the one you need to ride). It is most certainly not new. I will be taking off/apart the throttle control box (awful terminology I am sure lol) to see if anything broke inside. Basically the throttle is just loose as can be and has zero resistance to it. Anyone know if this is cable or other?

Thanks

It may be the cable, but also check the end of the cable at the carbs to make sure it didn't come unhooked. Ed

Had time to look at it again, didn't come unhooked. But the cable is a tad slack and has a kink in the middle of the arch of the pulley. This sound like its the cable?

Probably. Open up the throttle control at the handlebar, remove the cable from that end, and see if it operates by hand. Ed
