Well i just had a really nice rip up the street on that cafe racer my dad has. Just pulled it out of the garage for the second time and got it going again. Put some fresh gas in the tank and drained the older stuff out of the bowls. Started in about 4 kicks and ran kinda crappy for a few seconds that took off on both cylinders and ran like a monster. I put on my helmet and took off up the street. I let the RPMs go up a little bit in first and it started to sputter almost like it was getting flooded or starved of fuel. Then i shifted to second and kept going. Got it all the way to 4th gear with the same problem, it wants to die if you open the throttle to much or get it up to high RPM. I turned around and came back home. In the driveway it revs up fine and doesnt chop out.. Also, the idle speed adjustment screw isnt even touching the plate that opens the butterflies in the carbs and that is the only way to make it idle normal. I checked the intake sides of the carbs to see if there was any gas in there and it was bone dry. Any ideas on whats going on? I gotta get this bike on Craigslist soon so we can free up some space in the garage. Id buy it if i had the money though :D Looks sharp as hell

Thanks guys,
KT

Where ever it is crapping out, run it there for a few and kill the engine, pull clutch in and turn of engine. Dont let it turn over after killing it. Pull the plugs and see what color they are. Probably white. So you have a lean symptom at what rpm. Pilot controlls idle to 1000 rpm. Needle position controlld 1000 to 5000 rpm. Main takes over after that. The 3 circuts will bleed to one another by the way.

Am addicted to Z1's and kz 900's have an el camino, fly rc helicoptors and am strung out on horsepower.
