I work at a body shop and we use plastic paint cups that thread on the top of a gun, has a snap on lid and i just threaded a barbed fitting into one. You can also use a lawnmower tank they also work great.

I made my own from a coolant overflow tank I got at O'Riellys for $10. I added a cutoff valve for lawnmowers, a filter and some spare 1/4'' hose I already had on hand.

I just use the Bike Tank, set it up high enough for the fuel to flow. Get some clear line from Lowes or Home Depot. Use another filter as a Quick connect so you don't have to take anything else off. If its a vacuum petcock, plug the vacuum line, and when needed turn the valve to Prime. Thats how I do it, then you are running and tuning on your current tank of fuel.

I have such one made in plastic, save me worries about rust forming.

Re: auxilary fuel tank
22 Jul 2012 15:29That's the same one I use, but I used the tap that would be in the upper right corner of the box as in the photo. That way I don't need a valve. The gas is "on" when you hang the box from the hanging tabs, and to shut the fuel off, you just tilt the box as shown and set it down... automatic shutoff by gravity.

And here I was hoping for discussion about a permanent aux tank to extend range.
