Hey guys,
Hopefully this can be a quick one to solve my problem. I've adjusted needle jets before so I'm not fully in the dark on this one. For my 1996 KZ1000p, I've discovered the needle jets are not adjustable. Am I over looking something some how, or is that just how they were built for some reason?
I need to adjust mine since I've modified the intake and exhaust. (I've rejetted the pilot/mains already).
If I can adjust the needle with washers like many other carbs, that'd be awesome.
Thanks in advance,
Kev

Yes you can Shim up the needles, same as lowering the clip. You can buy shims or go to a hardware store and have a look. Best to get something that they will all be the same thickness, .020" is 1/2 a clip position I believe.

Does anyone happen to have pictures showing how/where someone put the washers? Not totally understanding where the placement of the washers would go on these carbs since there no clip positions or anything.

Washers/ Shims go inside the slide, on the needle, between the slide and the clip. This shims the needle UP, making more fuel available in the mid range circuit of the carb.
So as you place the needle into the slide, the shim goes on first, spacing up the needle.

Thanks gentlemen. Makes perfect sense now. I don't think I saw the clip to pull out but I'll look again since I'm not around the project right now.

Hey all,
Now I'm back in state to work on the project I'm sorting out all the carb adjustments. Can anyone explain how to remove this yellow piece with 4 holes in it? I don't want to force anything with snap ring pliers or pushing on anything the way it shouldn't.
Thanks in advance,
Kev
