I think some one want's your carb.s..

Suckin air there ain't gonna happen
as it a non vacuum area of the carb.
In this pic. the large hole is were the
shaft run's witha rubber dust seal.
The shaft is about 3/8" no metal to metal contact
means no wear but the seal's.

Who he? Assuming your bike has Mikuni carbs you can remove the mixing chamber top off the top of the carbs and expose the whole top of the mechanism and it still won't suck air. Maybe it's time to find an honest shop or one that employs motorcycle mechanics? Ed

he is a guy named wally that a local harley shop refured to me. I took the bike to his house and it he said he has been drag racing kz for year even had some pics up on his wall of him.

I told him to time it and sync the carbs. a month later and he tells me my points are shot and even new ones wouldnt work that I needed a whole new ignition set up. "dyna s"
and that the carbs was worn out that I needed to get new ones or. some smooth bores which he happen to have.lol
anyways I have put about 50miles on it today. I do have a slight hesitate when just at crusing speed until I give it a little gas then she sounds alot better.

heres a pic of the carbs off the bike.

Z1 models are 1973, 1974 and 1975 (28 mm carbs).
KZ900 models are 1976 (26 mm carbs).
The carbs shown are Z1 carbs.

The Wallys of the world are why I've always done my own maintenance and repairs. ;) You may want to consider buying a Kawasaki Service Manual for your year/model bike. You may be pleasantly surprised to find out how easy most normal maintenance tasks are. Your bike's poor performance might be the result of those pod air filters; I doubt that Wally did a proper jetting job to compensate for the lack of the stock air filter. You should ask some of the pod people on this site for jetting suggestions for your specific model. Ed

It might benefit you to know just which set of vm28sc carbs you are working with. As some of them have different throttle cutaways, pilot jets than others do.

There should be an ID stamped on the flange just below the choke lever. Note the numbers are small and you may need a magnify glass to read them, I know my old eyes do. If you post what the ID is I may be able to give you some info on what they are.

76 also starts with Z1E. Possibly 77 Kz900 also.

As known, the engine serial number is found on the engine, and the frame VIN (vehicle identification number) is found on the steering neck.

Zedder.com shows the ranges of numbers for engines and frames of many models.
www.zedder.com

Here's an example of using Zedder:

Let us know if able to better identify the engine and frame at hand.
