What causes popping in one cylinder.

I would, but it's possible to change them with head on. Somebody says you feed cotton twine in the spark plug holes to "fill" the combustion area and gently raise piston to TDC... that holds the valve up while you take the spring off and change the seal. I never tried it.

Have you checked your valve clearances?
Ohm checked your coils, and plug wires/caps?
Does this bike still have points and condenser? If so hows the condition, setting of the contact points and timing? You could have a condenser crapping out.

Checked the vale clearances and adjusted last season, Checked the coil and its fine cool, but I have yet to check it when its warm. Plugs are new, and so are caps. How do you check wire resistance and any clue what it should be? As for ignition, all new dyna s system wit the usual coil mod for power stright from the battery.

It's not a loud constant popping, just every third or fourth cycle at idle and just kind of anoying, can be kinda loud sometimes. I'm picky like that.

Did you replace the exhaust gasket?

THey're on thier way. Just ordered them from Z1 the other day.
