new carbies for old z400 was created by jsbrodie
Hello,

I have recently bought a 1975 z400. And the carbies are both shot. Can someone please recommend/advise on what carburettors I can choose from? ie; do I have to look for same year/model?

Thanks!

What's "shot" about them?

one is completely corroded and the other has been broken and glued back together, so it appears.

I have the same question right now with a bike I just picked up... Did you ever find the answer to this question? I don't need anything original, just something that will function.

Almost any carb near the size of the originals will "work," but there can be many complications. Spacing between the carbs is important and often unique to a particular engine family. Non stock carbs may be fine, but they will need to bolt to the stock rack and they will need the proper width linkage between them. Using stock carbs is often much easier. Kawi made about a buzillion kz400s, so a good used set should not be difficult to find.
