kz750 ltd h2 1981 - add inline fuel filter was created by steelhorseangel
hi kzr's

i was advised to ask the kz forum about my
rebuild question.'

the gas tank is ok, not the best inside.
it has been cleaned out with rotation and with
nuts and a small chain to scour the inside.
we want to fit an sintered brass inline filter.
we got some from z1.

q) is there a knack in putting and taking off the
gas tank? we're working blind. no other kz750's
within 100 miles. we decided to try to plumb
the tank in today. the bike has 4 great white sparks.

q) we'd great difficulty in guessing the distance for
the fuel pipe from the carb top, to the inline filter
and then to the petcock. it seems you've to
turn the tank on it's side and then connect
the fuel pipe to the petcock and the vacuum.

q) does the fuel pipe have to point 'downwards'
using gravity or is the fuel sucked through.
i've never plumbed a tank in, including an additional inline
filter.

does anyone have a photo of installing an
inline filter and the correct method of connecting
up all the pipework please?

q). what connects the vacuum pipe to the carb please?

many thanks everyone for helping me complete this project!

regards

Angel

Angel, fuel line length with filter is about 10" (25cm), about 4" (10cm between tank-filter and 6" (15cm) between filter-carbs.

This allows the tank to be lifted for access.

If you have the vacuum petcock, the vacuum line goes from the small inlet on the petcock to one of the vacuum inlets on any of the carbs. Carb #2 shown. Only one carb inlet is used, the other three are pluged like carb #1 shown.
The petcock shown on the tamk is a manual version (no vacuum) and all the carb vacuum ports are pluged.

The tank mounts at the rear with a single bolt.

hi jim

many thanks for your message!

i can only see one photo?
that is the one showing the inline filter.

i noticed that your pipes are put on with no
clips? i've used gas pipe clips, that circle
the pipe and close up onto it.

what clips the vacuum hose on please?

please can you send your photos again.

many thanks

Angel

ps: what bike do you've? :-)
