VM28 - really a pumper? was created by notaduc
I am confused at folks calling these pumper carbs.
My understanding is that an accelerator pump is internal to each carb that squirts a bit of fuel in when you crack the throttle at low rpm to make up for the loss of vacuum (more or less).
It looks to me like the 28 and 29 smoothbores have a single external vacuum fuel pump, not a system like the RS mikunis (for example).
Could someone correct or confirm some or all of this?

They were installed so the manfacture could lean the slow jet to pass emission standards. I have owned 28 and 26 pumpers. I don't know if they madea 24. Roy

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationThe later VM28's had accelerator pumps (the ones that came on Kz1000's). The Z1 models did not.
Part of the accelerator pump can be seen on the bottom of the #2 carb on that one. There is also a rod going from that piece to the throttle mechanism which activates the accelerator pump.
Your understanding of how they operate is my understanding of how they operate.

On today's E10 gas, would you get any performance benefit from an accelerator pump?
