KZ750 b4 choke/inricher high rpm was created by Pop147
I'm having trouble getting my bike to do anything but act up. The bike will start up no problem but it wont idle with the choke off and when the bike is on full choke it revs up to around 4000 rpm's or over. I can get almost consistent rpm's with the choke about 3/4's off but it will jump on occasion or die. When i throttle to keep it going it ether works or dies out. I'm thinking about taking the carbs off and giving them another look and cleaning to see if that helps but, wanted to ask if anyone had a good place to start?
Edit: the exhaust is in bad shape,im not using a gas tank to supply the gas open bottle with peacock attached.

Does your engine run smoothly with the choke off after it has warmed up? Ed

Do you have a service manual? That would be the best place to start.
Depending on the condition and setup of your carburetors - During startup with choke, some bikes like to idle up high at first then drop down and gradually less choke can be used. Some bikes will have poor idling issues immediately that get better/more stable, rpms increase as choke is closed for normal operation.
Carbs are very finicky devices that require being damn near immaculate to operate satisfactorily.
Its a big job, but taking the hours to completely dissasemble and squirt and blow air thru all the passages and jets in a carb are absolutely necessary. The best final check you can perform is to install just the air/mixture screw to its stock position (usually 1.5 turns out) and with the pilot jet removed, spray cleaner up inside the pilot jet passage while watching the tiny holes in the carb bore, making sure that the fluid sprays evenly out all the small ports. this must be done and carefully inspected on all the carbs.
remember dont get any carb cleaner on any of the rubber parts.
There are some really good write ups on carb cleaning here - just use the search function.
Could also be an air leak -make sure everything is sealed air tight at front and back of carbs to airbox with filter installed correctly!
Good luck!

I was think air leak and sprayed starter fluid around the carbs it was hit and miss sometimes it would rev up other times it would not. Im not counting it out but i think i need to re clean them and try some more. Also i found one of the rubber grommets on the plunger? for the choke is broken dont know if that could be the problem, sprayed starter fluid around the area but like i said it was hit and miss on the rpms. Yes i have the manual.
