hey guys was trying to find a post on this but was unsuccesful, is there a way to search posts?

if not my question is about my 81 csr 1000, i noticed tonight the intakes from airbox to carb are out of shape and warped from age, there not fitting to well on carbs, is it better to go with pod filters anyway? i was thinking of running them, and i assume i would need to re jet carb?

also tried firing up bike tonight after its sat for couple months, carbs are getting gas but not into cyclinder. Is there any other reason why this would happen other than dirty carb? i just thought at least one of them would get gas, i checked both outer cylinders threw plugs and both were dry, losened screw for carb bowl and gas was present in bowls, any ideas?

The topic of pods vs airbox comes up frequently on here, you will have to understand the question of which is better? is subjective.

It all boils down to your preference and application.

as for as your carb problem I am just learning so I am not the go to person on this but, I will throw this out there.

before condemming the carbs or assuming no gas is entering by way of plugs arent wet do some checking.

making sure you have spark etc..

Use the search function - key in pods. There must be a zillion postings on why they suck followed by a half zillion postings on why they don't suck.

Would recommend new air box hoses and retaining the stock air box.

In any event, don't damage or dispose of the stock air box. [You know why.] ;)

Good Fortune! :)

Try searching for "BS34" and "pods", if you have stock carbs that's what they are.

found some on amazon.com. Search for pods from AlphaMoto, very good guys quality pods, quick reliable shipping, I was very happy with them, just convert the carb bore size to mm and its all easy. and they are like $20 for the set of 4.

From the above search results (thanks by the way), my absolute favorite quote about BS34's and pods.

Getting pods to work with CV carbs as well as with an airbox is next to impossible, it seems. The bike may well run just fine, but if you strapped it to a dyno and also measure the CO2 as you ran some tests, chances are the mixture would be all over the place and 10-15% knocked off the top end. Provided you got the jets required. Pods are easier to get to work with older style piston carbs, but you may still be up for some jetting sessions.

The main benefit for me with pods is that they make carbs much easier to remove and refit. But compared to simply having an engine that runs well and isn't bothered with strong winds and/or rain, it's usually a small inconvenience.
